What to expect
What to Expect From Your Mystery Box
Surprises should be fun — and completely honest. Here is exactly what buying a mystery box means.
Read before orderingMystery means mystery.
You choose the box type or theme. You do not choose the individual products, brands, colors, styles, sizes, or quantities inside — that is the entire experience.
Where Do Our Products Come From?
At Pretty Packed Box, we source our inventory from liquidation truckloads and closeouts. That's part of what makes every box a surprise!
Our inventory may include brand-new merchandise, overstock, shelf-pulls, clearance finds, and customer returns. Some products may have damaged packaging, missing tags or labels, or minor cosmetic imperfections.
Because we work with liquidation inventory, product selections and conditions vary. We cannot guarantee specific brands, colors, styles, or items unless expressly stated in the product description.
Our goal is to provide exciting assortments and great value while being transparent about the nature of liquidation merchandise.
Photos may show examples from previous boxes or loads. Unless specifically labeled as photos of the exact current assortment, they are examples only and do not guarantee what will be included.
The Fun Is in the Surprise
Every Pretty Packed Box is filled with a surprise assortment of liquidation merchandise. You choose the box type or theme shown on the product page—but the individual products, brands, colors, styles, sizes, and quantities inside are intentionally a mystery.
That means you won’t know exactly what is arriving until you open it. That’s the whole experience!
📦 The Liquidation Calendar: What to Expect Throughout the Year
The Season Ends. The Surprises Begin!
Unlike traditional retail stores, liquidation inventory often becomes available after a season or holiday has passed. This means customers should expect a mix of seasonal merchandise, including items from holidays and seasons that have already ended, along with everyday products.
For example, a mystery box purchased in March may contain Christmas, Valentine's Day, winter, and everyday merchandise all mixed together.
Our mystery boxes are NOT packed according to the current season or holiday. Contents depend on the liquidation inventory available when orders are fulfilled.
Liquidation follows a different calendar than traditional retail — most seasonal merchandise enters liquidation after the season has ended. Here's when it typically shows up:
- January – February
Holiday aftermath
Christmas, New Year, holiday gifts and winter merchandise.
- March – April
Valentine's & winter clearance
Valentine's Day, winter clearance and early spring items.
- April – June
Easter & spring
Easter, spring décor and seasonal gifts.
- June – July
Celebration season
Mother's Day, Father's Day and graduation merchandise.
- August – October
Summer clearance
Beach, outdoor, patio and camping products.
- September – November
Back-to-school & fall
School supplies, fall merchandise and Halloween.
- November – December
Fall wrap-up
Halloween, Thanksgiving and fall clearance.
- Year-round
Everyday finds
Clothing, electronics, beauty, toys, home goods, household essentials and more.
The Liquidation Calendar is an educational guide, not a guarantee of inventory or box contents. Seasonal merchandise may appear at any time of year. Every box contains an assortment based on available inventory.
A Mystery Box May Include
Depending on the box purchased and the inventory available, your assortment may contain products from categories such as:
- Home and kitchen
- Toys and games
- Beauty and personal care
- Pet supplies
- Seasonal merchandise
- Clothing or accessories
- Electronics and small appliances
- General merchandise
Only include categories that apply to the box purchased. Contents vary from box to box, even when two customers order the same box type.
Before You Buy: Please Be Sure Mystery Boxes Are Right for You
Mystery boxes are best for customers who enjoy surprises and understand that they are not choosing each individual item.
A mystery box may not be right for you if:
- You only want certain colors, styles, brands, sizes, or products.
- You do not want pink—or any other particular color.
- You do not have children, pets, or use for certain household categories.
- You need every item to match personal, cultural, religious, dietary, lifestyle, or gifting preferences.
- You expect every product to fit your household perfectly.
- You are purchasing with a specific list of desired items in mind.
- You are uncomfortable receiving duplicate, seasonal, discontinued, overstock, shelf-pull, or package-damaged merchandise when disclosed for that box.
- You intend to dispute the purchase simply because you do not personally like the assortment.
We cannot customize an undisclosed mystery assortment around preferences or circumstances that were not specifically offered as selectable options on the product page.
“I Don’t Like It” Does Not Mean “Not as Described”
Personal preference is not a product defect.
Not liking a color, brand, style, category, or individual item does not mean the mystery box was incorrectly fulfilled. The following are not valid reasons to claim that an accurately fulfilled mystery box was unauthorized, defective, or not as described:
- “I don’t like pink.”
- “I don’t have children.”
- “I don’t have pets.”
- “The products do not match my personal or religious preferences.”
- “I already own something similar.”
- “These are not the exact products I expected.”
- “I would not personally use every item.”
- “I don’t like this scent or fragrance.”
- “This clothing size does not fit me.” (When no specific size was promised.)
- “I don’t recognize these brands.”
- “I wanted more beauty products and fewer household items.” (When no category mix was promised.)
- “I received duplicates.” (When unique items were not guaranteed.)
- “I don’t decorate for this season or holiday.” (When seasonal items were disclosed.)
- “The packaging has shelf wear or a missing tag.” (When that condition was disclosed.)
- “The clearance sticker is lower than I expected.”
- “I cannot resell these items for the profit I wanted.”
These examples apply only when the box matches its listing and disclosed condition. They do not excuse genuine defects, missing promised items, an incorrect box, or a product that materially differs from its description, and they do not limit your applicable consumer rights.
If you need complete control over every product you receive, please purchase individually listed products instead of a mystery box.
What We Do Promise
We promise to:
- Send the mystery-box type you selected.
- Follow the description and condition stated on the product page.
- Pack your order with care.
- Address genuine issues such as an incorrect box, missing shipment, or materially damaged merchandise according to our published policies.
We do not promise specific products, brands, colors, quantities, sizes, or suitability for a particular person unless that promise appears explicitly on the product listing. We do not guarantee a minimum retail value, resale value, profit, or savings.
Original retail pricing vs. clearance stickers
Items may arrive with original retail tags, clearance stickers, or markdown labels from previous retailers. Those prices reflect that retailer’s pricing—not the price or value of your Pretty Packed Box.
As a liquidation company, we purchase inventory based on original full retail pricing, not the clearance prices shown on individual items. Our boxes are sold as mixed assortments, not with a guaranteed dollar value.
We do not guarantee a minimum retail value, resale value, profit, or savings. Any original retail prices provided are for reference only and do not mean an item will sell for that amount.
No Guaranteed Retail or Resale Value
We do not guarantee:
- A minimum original retail value
- Current market value
- Resale value or profit
- Guaranteed savings
- A specific number of premium items
- A particular brand mix
- That every item will suit the buyer personally
Customers are responsible for evaluating whether mystery merchandise fits their needs and risk tolerance before purchasing.

If we sent the wrong box, your shipment is missing, or there is another issue covered by our policies, contact us within the required reporting period. Include your order number, photographs of the shipping box, the shipping label, all contents received, and clear photos or video showing the issue.
Do not discard the packaging or merchandise while a claim is being reviewed.

Mystery means mystery.
If you’re excited by surprises, unexpected finds, and discovering what is inside, you’re in the right place. If you already know you will be unhappy unless you receive particular items, colors, brands, or categories, please do not purchase a mystery box.
